Garden Flower Rock Wall Volunteer

Besides bristly dandelions, Siberia elms and invasive grasses (weed! weed! goodbye!) taking root in the garden rock wall, every once in awhile we get a welcome botanical guest like this sweet Gaillardia pulchella ("Firewheel"). Sometimes letting nature intrude in the garden results in serendipitous beauty. What a beautiful sign of summer approaching!

Tour of the Gila Criterion Race Fashion

My daughter, Hallie, styling with gloves and fascinator before joining her friends to watch the Tour of the Gila's Criterion Race, Silver City's "Kentucky Derby," downtown last Saturday, May 7th.

I love the way the people in Silver City dress up and have fun!

We had a great race week at Adobe Agave and had the opportunity to host a wonderful professional cycling team. Thank you so much (you know who you are) for staying with us!

Toaderfest and Red Dot Continue this Weekend

Get your party on in downtown Silver City

Silver City Sidewalks: Red Art Dot and Green Beer Dot
Red Dot Art Weekend continues and The Little Toad Creek Brewery & Distillery hosts Oktoaderfest

Downtown Silver City will be hopping this weekend. The Silver City Art Association Red Dot Weekends continue this weekend with expanded gallery hours, street art installations, and artist demos. You can see the festival schedule flyer here.

Also, Bullard St. will be closed on Saturday between Yankie and Broadway for Oktoaderfest, The Little Toad's Beer Festival and Block Party. There will be an outside beer and food tent, games, and music in addition to the usual festive fare inside the nano-brewpub. Games include Stein Racing, in which participants navigate an obstacle course without spilling beer from their steins; keg tossing; human foosball; pint slides; and a yodelling competition. The event kicks off on Friday night with a special celebrity keg tapping of the Brewed-Special-For-The-Occasion Dunkelweizen.

This is a great weekend to visit Silver City.

Next weekend, Silver City and the Mimbres Regional Arts Council will host the 6th annual incarnation of Pickamania: a free weekend of some of the best bluegrass, folk and traditional acts in the country, with some Southwest talents if you're craving local flavor. The weekend kicks off with a foot stomping, kilt lifting street dance, sponsored by the Silver City Food Coop.

6th Annual Pickamania

Silver City loves it's citizens. That's the only explanation I can find for our fabulous music festivals that are free to the public. Silver City's 6th Annual Pickamania is a mountain haven for Bluegrass and traditional music fans.
