Next weekend, Silver City and the Mimbres Regional Arts Council will host the 6th annual incarnation of Pickamania: a free weekend of some of the best bluegrass, folk and traditional acts in the country, with some Southwest talents if you're craving local flavor. The weekend kicks off with a foot stomping, kilt lifting street dance, sponsored by the Silver City Food Coop.

6th Annual Pickamania

Silver City loves it's citizens. That's the only explanation I can find for our fabulous music festivals that are free to the public. Silver City's 6th Annual Pickamania is a mountain haven for Bluegrass and traditional music fans.

Silver City Farmers' Market

For a little slice of sensory heaven, stop by the Silver City Farmer's Market on Saturday mornings this summer and fall. The market is already warming up with delectable and sustainably-raised local produce.

Silver City Egg Lady

This is Galynn, Silver City's premiere egg lady. Took a short trip out to Galynn's place this morning to pick up three dozen of the yummiest eggs you've ever tasted.

Birding the San Vicente Trail

For all you birders interested in birds in the Silver City area, the San Vicente Trail is conveniently located on the edge of downtown Silver City.  Not only is the San Vicente Trail a very enjoyable and easy to moderate hike, but there are a number of wonderful birds to be sited there throughout the year.  One bird in particular, a rarely sighted Black Hawk, has been found nesting on the San Vicente Trail the last couple of years (and is back again this spring of 2013).
